History
Having worked ten years in the “Big Eight” environment of multinational audit and tax firms in New York City and Portland Maine, Scott McLeod left the comfort and challenges of firms that employed tens of thousands to explore the idea of taking the best from that experience and combining it with the Maine work ethic of independence and self-reliance. While at Coopers & Lybrand Scott had developed a mentoring relationship with a newcomer to the profession who brought practical managerial experience and a high intellect…that person was Jim Ascanio. Scott and Jim worked together on numerous projects and developed an excellent relationship. In 1992 Scott left Coopers & Lybrand. Jim followed suit two years later.
In 1995 Scott became aware that the former Casco Bank building at Morrill’s Corner was for sale, so he contacted Jim to see if he’d be interested in buying it together and combining theirr individual practices to form a new firm. And so McLeod | Ascanio came to be. The rest, as they say, is history.
In February of 2009, we opened an office in Brunswick.
In January of 2011, Barb MacDonald of Just Barb, Inc., of Brunswick, merged her tax accounting practice with ours. This merger allows all Barb’s clients to benefit from McLeod | Ascanio’s 50+ years of experience in the accounting field while continuing to enjoy the friendly service they have enjoyed in the past. In Brunswick we are located in the Senter Building at 124 Maine Street. We continue to grow in both Portland and Brunswick and provide a high level of audit, tax and consulting services to a wide range of clients.
