Meet the Principals
Managing Principal
Scott earned his MBA at Hofstra University and his Bachelor of Science degree at University of Maine. In 1982 he started his career in the accountancy profession in the Manhattan office of the international accounting firm of Arthur Andersen and Company. He remained there until September of 1988. As a tax manager and member of Arthur Andersen’s International Tax Team Scott assisted companies on a wide variety of transactional, business and tax issues. Scott returned to Maine in 1988 and continued his career at the Portland office of Coopers & Lybrand. In January of 1995 he became a founding principal in the firm of McLeod|Ascanio. Although Scott’s client list changed from multinational corporations to Maine owned businesses and non-profit entities, Scott’s exposure to the demands, results and rewards of excellence that embody New York City have been permanently etched in his vision of client service.
Scott is licensed to practice accountancy in the State of Maine. He is a member of the AICPA and its Tax Section.
Managing Principal
Jim is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine and Babson College. After receiving his MBA from Babson College, he spent over three years as general manager of his family’s contracting firm. Jim managed the company’s financial and marketing matters and was instrumental in expanding the company’s market base and restoring it to profitability. Jim joined the international accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand in 1989 as a staff accountant. He advanced to Senior Accountant/Manager prior to becoming a founding principal in the firm of McLeod|Ascanio in January of 1995. In addition to providing his clients with accounting and tax services, Jim has added value to his clients’ businesses through his business advisory services, valuation work and complex bank financing proposals.
Jim is licensed to practice accountancy in the State of Maine. He holds memberships in the AICPA, the Maine Society of CPA’s and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
Principal
Matt received a B.A. in Accounting and Public Relations from Syracuse University. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1999 as an audit associate in the Denver, Colorado office. In 2000, he relocated to Portland with PricewaterhouseCoopers and advanced to Senior Associate serving a variety of clients in the Maine marketplace. Matt joined McLeod|Ascanio in the fall of 2004 to expand the firm’s experience base in financial and higher education assurance and advisory services.
Matt is licensed to practice accountancy in the State of Maine and holds a membership in the AICPA.
